The history of the Orient watch brand is a rich story of passion, innovation and unwavering determination
The history of the Orient brand is a rich story of passion, innovation and unwavering determination, which has resulted in exceptional watches, gaining recognition around the world. The origins of the company date back to 1901, when Shogoro Yoshida founded a small watch manufacture in Hino, on the outskirts of Tokyo.
Yoshida, a passionate watchmaker, decided to produce pocket watches, and his goal was to create the highest quality products that would be able to compete with the best European brands. Within a few years, the company gained a reputation and recognition, and in 1920 it changed its name to "Orient Watch Company".
In the interwar period, Orient increased its production and exported its watches to China, Korea and India, and after World War II, it began to expand to Western markets, especially to the USA. In the 1950s and 1960s, the company expanded its product range, launching men's and then women's watches.
In 1971, Orient became part of the large Seiko corporation, which allowed for even greater expansion and development of the company. In the 1980s and 1990s, Orient focused on the production of watches with an automatic movement, the quality and precision of which gained recognition among watch enthusiasts around the world.
In the years 2000-2010, Orient introduced innovative technical solutions to the market, such as the GPS time regulation system, as well as hybrid watches combining an automatic and quartz movement. In 2017, Orient presented its latest creation - a watch from the "Star Wars" series, inspired by popular space movies.
Today, Orient is one of the leading watch manufacturers in the world, offering a wide range of products for men and women. The brand remains faithful to its roots and continues the tradition of producing high-quality watches with precise mechanisms that are appreciated by watch lovers around the world.
